The Audi A3 e-tron concept on display at the show is powered by two engines - a 211PS 1.4 TFSI four-cylinder engine with turbo charging and petrol direct injection and an electric motor with an output of 27PS. With a combined output of 238PS, working together the engine and electric motor propel the Audi A3 e-tron concept from 0 - 62mph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 144mph.
The concept features lithium-ion batteries located behind the rear seats. With a charge capacity of 12 kWh the concept can achieve a range of up to 34 miles on pure electric power alone. The batteries can be charged from a household socket, meaning in most cases the car can provide a completely emission free driving experience for city and urban driving.
The Audi A3 in Scotland looks very much like a traditional car but nothing like a typical A3, its notchback body style has not been seen before in an A3. The inside is very futuristic and reminiscent of its plug in hybrid technology.
